Book Launch of ONE HOUSE DOWN

Wednesday, October 2, 2019 6:30 pm

The University of Tampa Music Room

401 W. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa 33602

Join me for an extraordinary evening of poetry as The University of Tampa Low-Residency MFA program celebrates the publication of One House Down (Madville Publishing), my second full-length collection. I’m thrilled to be joined by my great friend Susan Lilley, first Poet Laureate of Orlando, who will read from her recently published collection Venus in Retrograde (Burrow Press). Both books will be available for sale and, yes, we’ll be signing. In addition, fellow UT grad Amanda Forrester will open with a poem. It’s gonna be a night of Florida-woman poetry (we’re all natives) so expect quirky, disturbing and glorious (just like our home-state) all rolled into one hour.

Susan Lilley, currently serving as the first Poet Laureate of Orlando, is a Florida native. Her poetry and non-fiction have appeared in American Poetry Review, Gulf Coast, Poet Lore, The Southern Review, Drunken Boat, Saw Palm, Hippocampus, The Florida Review, Sweet, Slipstream, and other journals. She is a past winner of the Rita Dove Poetry Award and has held a State of Florida Individual Arts Fellowship. She has taught at University of Central Florida and Rollins College, and currently teaches literature and creative writing at Trinity Preparatory School in Winter Park. Her two chapbooks are Night Windows and Satellite Beach. Her new  full-length collection, Venus in Retrograde, was published in spring of 2019 by Burrow Press.

  1. Congratulations, Gianna, on your book and the launch! I’m really looking forward to meeting you at the Mirror Lake Library author event – thanks for doing that with us! I’d like to talk with you about the copies of your books for the event – can you share your email with me to discuss? Thanks so much! -Terra (

    1. Hi Terra,
So nice to hear from you. You can order my most recent book directly from Madville Publishing or I can give you some for consignment. They sell for $16.95. On consignment, I generally $12-14 and the remainder goes to the seller. My first book is only available from me as the publisher has since closed. I also have copies of the chapbooks. However you want to handle this is fine.
If you don’t mind, let’s communicate by my gmail account from here on out. Thanks and I look forward to working with you.
